At HMS, how children are taught is as important as what children are taught. Teachers are encouraged to differentiate what is taught to meet the educational needs of each student. Therefore, the textbook is viewed as one resource a teacher will use to prepare lessons.   Other resources are used to broaden and diversify what is taught. Teachers are encouraged to guide students' thinking by forming essential questions for each lesson. They strive to deepen students' thinking skills by leading them through thoughtful questions. In order to prepare our students for the 21st century, understanding the use of technology and learning how to learn are critical skills.
