HMS Spring Fundraisers - Chicken BBQ & Servathon

HMS families support the school and their children's education in many ways including volunteering, attending school programs, helping their children with homework, paying tuition and helping in school fundraisers.  Tuition covers only 60% of education at HMS so we depend on donors and fundraisers for the rest!  Our goal is for each family to help raise $500 between our Christmas and Spring fundraisers.  So please consider how you can encourage friends and family to support your commitment to Christian education for your children through the HMS spring fundraising efforts!

The Spring Fundraisers--Chicken BBQ & Servathon projects--have concluded for 2018.

For more information about these fundraising activities, contact Jody Fausnight,

Servathon 2018

The HMS Servathon's purpose is two-fold:

  1. to reinforce HMS's core value of SERVICE as a teaching of Christ and as a gift to our neighbors & community, and
  2. to provide an opportunity for the community to respond in a way that subsidizes the cost of Christian education.  We invite family & friends to sponsor HMS students as they volunteer as classes in our community.

Class participation in service projects gives us the opportunity to talk about service--one of our core values as a school!  Part of teaching what it means to be a Christian from an Anabaptist viewpoint is to highlight Christ's example of humble service and love towards all people.  We not only expect our students to learn to serve cheerfully, but we also expect us, as adults, to work with them and demonstrate servant hearts. Volunteers are needed to serve with each class and teachers will contact parents with information on serving together.

The fundraising component of the Servathon allows the community to get involved in the students' service and education. Families can request sponsorships directly from friends and neighbors. Or families can suggest names & addresses of potential sponsors and the school will take care of the rest!  Students write personal notes on the sponsor invitation letters to these friends and family members as part of their in-class writing work and the letters will be mailed out from the school.
