Christmas Giving Project 2014

Relief Kits for Refugees

One of our goals as a school is to teach students how they can express Christ's love to others and be aware of the needs within our global community. Each December we choose a gift giving project where students can tangibly share with children and families somewhere else in the world.

For 2014, we will be collecting items for relief kits, which will be given to refugees fleeing areas of conflict around the world, such as Syria and Ukraine.  Hundreds of thousands of refugees have been forced to leave their homes, leaving behind their belongings and even basic necessities. As they seek safety in neighboring countries, Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) responds by sending relief kits to help provide for basic needs and personal care.

Each class will collect kits in their classrooms during the month of December.
Before Christmas break, we will pack the items together and have a time of prayer, asking God to bless the people who receive our kits.  Each kit will then be packaged into a new 5-gallon plastic pail with a lid, provided by MCC.
